because it's supposed to be the best in the world. But it's not was it was... personally I live in Belgium, which is just in the north of france, and I hate french cooking. Matter of taste I guess.

It's the French psyche! You want good cuisine? Go to to Italy. That's where Napoleon sent his chefs to learn how to cook.

Culturally, french cooking used to be one of the first to be written in cookbooks and to be featured in fancy restaurants. But now japanese cooking and spanish cooking are as good or better for me.

French cooking forms the basis for many other ethnic cuisines and most of the basic cooking techniques and basic recipes for sauces etc. that we and chefs use, were invented by the French.

Julia Child wrote the books that Americans could use which pretty much taught you to cook most foods. Now there is the book and movie Julia and Julie, which has brought french cooking back to the forefront.

microwave cooking is not very healthy. in fact, it is very dangerous. the center portion of the food may not get heated up and bacteria will not be killled. If consumed, the bacteria can cause problems in the stomach, resulting in severe diarrhoea.

benefits of the microwave is its convenience i guess. It is fast in 'heating' up food.

There's nothing wrong with microwave cooking, although it usually doesn't taste all that good.
Just make sure you don't use plastic containers as they leach out dangerous chemicals into your food as it heated.
Also, do not cover your food with plastic wrap, such as Saran Wrap, as it drips dangerous chemicals into your food as it heats.
This is now a well known, and confirmed fact.

no ... its not suggested

The main problem with microwaving is the uneven heating of the food, which has raised concern regarding microbiological safety.

Some people are concerned with being exposed to the microwave radiation. The U.S. legal limit of leaking radiation is 1 mW/cm² at 5 cm (about 2 inches) from a new oven — for a used oven the allowed radiation is five times higher. It is rare for an oven to exceed these limits. As a comparison, a GSM mobile phone may emit up to 1 W at 1800 MHz, which is 3.2 mW/cm², at 5 cm, with a human being staying nearby (such as within 5 cm) for far longer periods of time. Whether or not cellular phones are hazardous to the health is also controversial

You don't destroy any more than you do with conventional cooking. In most cases, you destroy less. Vegetables aren't overcooked if you do them right and fish is not overdone.

I don't recommend microwaving beef or poultry in the microwave because they might not be completely done. Most other items are fine.
